MPS 501: Cross-Sector Analysis (Fall 2011; Winter 2012)
This course covers the examination of the size, scope, capacity, and limitations of the nonprofit, government, and business sectors, in the domestic and international context. Students will be introduced to research and become familiar with print and electronic resources and databases. They will learn to develop meaningful research questions, write literature reviews, and analyze the interrelationships between the three sectors.

MPS 542: Policy Design and Analysis (Fall 2011; Spring 2012)
This course focuses on processes and techniques of analyzing and designing public policies. Students are introduced to an analytical way of thinking that includes: defining and modeling policy problems; designing policy alternatives; evaluating policy alternatives using ethical, legal, economic, organizational, and political criteria; and anticipating problems of policy implementation.

MPS 604: Social Entrepreneurship (Summer 2012, at All Hallows College in Dublin, Ireland)
This course explores market-based approaches to providing social goods and the creation of social and public value. Combining classic principles of entrepreneurship and management with social service provision, students will learn about various legal forms of social enterprise in Europe and the United States. Students will be tasked with creating a business plan for a new enterprise, exploring the foreseeable challenges that come with blended goals of profit, sustainability, mission, social value, and ethics.
